Applied Computer Science, B.Sc.
The study program Applied Computer Science teaches application-oriented, solid and broad computer science education. In particular, the development of systems in the areas of software and hardware is the focus of the study. Modules on the subjects of business administration and law as well as additional social skills complement the computer science fields meaningfully and produce interdisciplinarity. The program is characterized by a good support ratio. Internships with small group sizes as well as study groups, in which contacts can easily be established, contribute to a pleasant learning atmosphere, which is important for a successful study.

In terms of content, the degree program covers all computer science core areas relevant to professional practice. Several programming languages are taught. The graduates cover the entire range of computer science and can thus be used in the most diverse areas of computer science. This includes, for example, work on computer networks as well as web-based applications or the current topic of security. Competencies in networking and graphic computing complement the abovementioned skills in programming. Within the list of offers I to III you can choose courses yourself and set thematic priorities. Offered z. For example: 3D modeling, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality Systems, Secure Systems, Web Engineering and Data Mining.

As a computer scientist you work not only as a developer or developer, but also as a system analyst or analyst and system architect or architect in the operation of IT systems, in sales and in customer service. Computer scientists are mostly involved in teams, which is why communication with customers or departments of their own company is very important in addition to programming so that projects can be successfully implemented.

Requirements and application
| Previous education | The study of applied computer science requires an interest in programming and computer engineering as well as mathematical skills. |

| Application | Directly to the university, winter semester until 15.07 |
The procedure and the set of documents depend on your certificate. We check the university's requirements against your documents and give you a list: what to submit, how to certify and translate it, where and when to apply.
Check the requirementsHow to get into this programme
- 1Check your certificate and its recognitionDirect admission, a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — this decides the whole plan.
- 2Documents and translationsCertified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.
- 3Application directly to the university until 15.07Send the documents well before the deadline — an incomplete application cannot be completed after it.
- 4Admission, visa, movingPlan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account in parallel.
How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
