Chemistry, B.Sc.
Studying chemistry offers you an exciting mix of manual laboratory practice, empirical observation, abstract thinking and the necessary creativity. In the bachelor's degree program, you will learn essential basics in all areas of chemistry. You can later specify and deepen this knowledge in a master's degree program.

How the selection works and how strong the competition is — we go through it against your certificate when we select programmes for you.
Programme selection →What you study
Chemistry is a natural science in which the structure, properties and transformation of substances (i.e. elements and compounds) are investigated.
The full curriculum and the programme's parameters are part of programme selection: we compare them with your profile.

University Chemistry - Bachelor graduates will compete for jobs in the current job market with training courses of a similar length, for example with chemistry laboratory technicians, chemical technicians and chemical technical assistants. The strength of university Bachelors is the significantly broader and more in-depth theoretical knowledge and understanding of chemistry, which is acquired at the expense of laboratory experience.

After graduation, you can take on simple and assistant tasks in laboratories and companies. Typical tasks consist of carrying out chemical tests and documenting them accordingly. Possible career fields arise in the following areas:
- Chemical and pharmaceutical production
- Laboratory analysis
- Process and product development.
In order to prepare for starting your career, you should establish contacts with potential employers during your studies and gain initial experience through internships. The Career Service will be happy to help you.
However, the opportunities for entering the job market after completing the Bachelor's degree are limited. The Bachelor's degree is therefore primarily designed to provide the professional qualifications required as a basis for versatility and specialization in a demanding Master's degree.

If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
