Economic and Business Education, B.Sc.

Wirtschaftspädagogik

Developing a general understanding of the subject material is at the heart of the bachelor's program. This includes looking at national and company-related economic problems, and aspects of business law, economic law, and business informatics. Within this context, students address the following questions: In which circumstances do pupils learn about the economy? What is the best way to design a learning environment for a business or a secondary school with a commercial focus?

In courses on math, statistics, and research methods, you will learn how to carry out and evaluate scientific studies. The program includes two internships, one at a company and one at a school. You can also choose from an extensive range of elective courses in a variety of subjects, such as English, Mathematics, and Political Science.

Will I get in

The programme has an admission restriction: the average grade of your certificate, converted to the German scale, decides. The cut-off changes every year — last year's value shows the order of magnitude, not a promise.

What you study

The study of business education at the University of Mannheim is diverse and forms an ideal starting point for your later professional life. The focus of the course is on economic and business education issues. To do this, you will acquire sound basic knowledge from various areas of business and economics, business informatics and business law. They deal with questions such as "Under what conditions do learners acquire economic skills?" Or "How should learning environments be designed in companies and commercial schools?". A wide range of exercises, work groups and coaching accompanying lectures and seminars enables team-oriented learning in small groups. Already during your studies, we would like to give you the opportunity to put what you have learned into practice. You can do this e.g. by participating in one of the many student initiatives or in the course of company and school internships. These form an integral part of the course. You can also choose from a wide range of electives (e.g. English or political science).

How to apply

You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.

Apply yourself

Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:

  • ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
  • ×a wrong set of documents
  • ×the application submitted the wrong way

  • ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late

An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.

University application portal

StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.

If your level is not enough yet

The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
