About the programme

Pedagogues and teachers at schools, universities, day-care centers and other educational institutions are called upon in their everyday life to identify teaching-learning-related problems, to evaluate them critically and to deal with them in a solution-oriented and ethical manner. For this they need up-to-date and reliable knowledge about the conditions, the results and the promotion of teaching-learning processes. The master’s course trains students to research teaching-learning processes in formal educational contexts and to generate the knowledge required in practice.

The course is aimed equally at graduates of teacher training and bachelor’s courses with a close connection to empirical teaching and learning research (especially educational science, psychology, media and communication studies). It optimally prepares students for a scientific career in empirical teaching and learning research or a responsible position in educational practice.

What you study

The "Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Research" master’s degree is characterized by (a) a discursive-theoretical examination of various disciplinary perspectives (psychology, educational science, subject didactics, digital media education) and (b) extensive training in empirical research methods Teaching-learning research.

In so-called propaedeutics, students have the opportunity in the first semester to balance their different prior knowledge of empirical research methods or practical teaching and teaching skills. During the course of their studies, students specialize in two of the following four areas of specialization, in which they work on empirical research projects under intensive supervision.

If your level is not enough yet

The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
