Master Embedded Systems for Mechatronics, M.Eng.
Master Embedded Systems for Mechatronics deals with problems like...
- how to model control systems for mechatronic systems.
- how to implement algorithms for distributed embedded systems.
- how to evaluate and use tools for embedded software engineering.
- how to lead cross-domain designs of mechatronic systems.

Programme selection →What you study
The study programme is taught in four semesters including the master thesis. It is a full time programme with a workload of 3.600 hours and 120 credit points (ECTS). It starts only in winter semester. The first two semesters are teaching semesters with five modules each. One of the modules in the first semester is designed for harmonizing the competencies earned by the students in their preceding studies. One module in the second semester is an elective. The third semester is based on an elective module, homework and a bigger R&D project. The fourth semester is designated to the writing of a scientific master thesis. The teaching modules of the first two semesters are conducted on a weekly basis throughout the whole semester. They include assignments during the semester and an exam at the end of the semester. Various case studies are used in the different modules. The third semester is designed as an exchange semester with the partner universities in Leuven, Kaunas, Bilbao and Trondheim. The electives allow a specialization, e.g. on an application domain. Furthermore, courses from a Master programme on project management can be selected. The R&D project and the master thesis can be conducted in cooperation with a company or within an engineering research project at the university.

The procedure and the set of documents depend on your certificate. We check the university's requirements against your documents and give you a list: what to submit, how to certify and translate it, where and when to apply.
Check the requirementsHow to get into this programme
- 1Check your certificate and its recognitionDirect admission, a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — this decides the whole plan.
- 2Documents and translationsCertified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.
- 3Application directly to the university until 15.06Send the documents well before the deadline — an incomplete application cannot be completed after it.
- 4Admission, visa, movingPlan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account in parallel.
How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
