The bachelor’s program lasts 7 semesters. From the 3rd semester onward, the clinical study phases begin at Heidelberg University Hospital and other placement sites. In the 6th semester, the state examination for professional licensure takes place. In the 7th semester, students can develop a profile in one of the fields listed below and thereby identify a topic for their bachelor’s thesis at an early stage.

In addition, further career fields arise, such as subject-specific activities in occupational health promotion, promoting health literacy in various settings (e.g., schools, kindergartens, etc.), the service sector, product development, and roles with a purely research-focused emphasis.
Furthermore, additional fields of activity are opening up in the short and medium term in the areas of research and quality improvement, as well as in interprofessional collaboration.
The degree program also offers the opportunity to pursue an academic career path. The scientific competence acquired enables graduates to adequately address the specific research needs in physiotherapy. In addition, there are progression options to further master’s programs and up to doctoral studies, allowing graduates to deepen their expertise further and make a significant contribution to the development of the field.
The program also provides the opportunity to build interdisciplinary networks and to specialize in specific medical disciplines.

How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
