Transportation, B.Sc.
In the bachelor’s degree in Transportation, you will design means of transport, test engines, research accidents or cause ocean-going ships to capsize in simulations. In a way that is unique in Germany, the course combines basic training with the teaching of in-depth, application-related and method-oriented specialist knowledge: You will acquire sound basic knowledge of scientific, mathematical and engineering content. In addition, there is specialist knowledge of the development and operation of means of transport, the construction and operation of transport routes and the complex interaction of the various transport systems. For a specialization during your studies, you can choose between the areas of ship and ocean engineering, planning and operation in transport, aerospace technology, vehicle technology or general transport.

Programme selection →About the programme
In a unique way in the Federal Republic of Germany, the study program Transportation at the TU Berlin combines basic education in natural science, mathematical and engineering subjects with in-depth and method-oriented training in one of the four selectable traffic-specific disciplines: Marine and Marine Engineering, Planning and Operation in transport, aerospace engineering and automotive engineering.
What you study
The bachelor's degree in transport has a modular structure. A module bundles course content on a specific topic. Various forms of study and teaching are often offered within a module, for example lectures, exercises, seminars and practical projects. In each module, a fixed number of credit points and specific coursework and examinations must be completed.
The full curriculum and the programme's parameters are part of programme selection: we compare them with your profile.
Pick programmesCareer
As a graduate of the bachelor's degree, you have various options: the advanced master's degree in automotive engineering, aerospace engineering, planning and operation in transport, ship and marine engineering (at the TU Berlin) or direct career entry. Opportunities for traffic engineers can be found in a wide range of fields, for example:

• in aerospace engineering in the field of assessment and integration of new technologies or development and management of complex networked aviation systems,
• in ship and marine engineering in the field of planning ships and floating systems in the sea,
• in vehicle technology in the field of development, project planning and production of motor and rail vehicles or the preparation of usage, competition and profitability analyses,
• in planning and operation, in the analysis of traffic relationships and traffic-generating structural variables in traffic planning, in the dimensioning of traffic systems or in environmental impact assessments of traffic measures.
With a profile in the field of general transport, you set the course in which of these four areas you would like to gain professional qualifications by setting your individual focus during your studies.

The procedure and the set of documents depend on your certificate. We check the university's requirements against your documents and give you a list: what to submit, how to certify and translate it, where and when to apply.
Check the requirementsHow to get into this programme
- 1Check your certificate and its recognitionDirect admission, a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — this decides the whole plan.
- 2Documents and translationsCertified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.
- 3Application via uni-assist until 15.01uni-assist checks documents for 4–6 weeks — send them well before the deadline.
- 4Admission, visa, movingPlan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account in parallel.
How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
