The "examination to determine the suitability for admission to a specialist degree at a German university" - the so-called assessment test - is the final examination of the preparatory college with which the direct subject-specific university entrance qualification is acquired.
Passing the exam entitles you to study at German (technical) colleges and universities .
The assessment test takes place twice a year, at the end of each semester.
Requirements:
- Successful participation in a specialty course of the preparatory college (note compulsory attendance)
- or: Acceptance for the external assessment test
It is possible to repeat the assessment test once . For this, the residence permit must still be valid for the next semester.

- 3Apply via a universityYou apply to a bachelor's programme of a linked university; the university admits you conditionally and sends you to the college.
- 4Entrance examGerman and the main subject of the course; places go to the best results.
The application goes to a partner university of the college, for the bachelor's programme you want to study later; the university sends it on to the college.
Typical mistakes:

An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
