"Yes, what is bionics?" We bionics students (Bionikx) are often asked this question. In general, the principle can be explained very simply: solving technical problems with the help of living nature.

One invention that comes from bionics is Velcro. We come across it everywhere in everyday life: on shoes, jackets and even backpacks. The Swiss engineer Georges de Mestral invented Velcro based on the burrs that got caught in his dog's fur. Bionikx are always inspired by their environment and surroundings.

What is bionics?

"Bionics, what was that again?" In bionics, you are inspired by nature and use natural phenomena to solve technical problems. Strictly speaking, bionic work can be divided into three parts: 1. The model from nature, which you 2. research, understand and abstract so that you can transfer it to the technical context. 3. The product is implemented with a market launch or at least a prototype.

Why Campus Bocholt?

Bocholt has around 70,000 inhabitants and has been recognized as the most bicycle-friendly city in Germany. Here in Bocholt, we have developed a deep passion for our degree program. It's not for nothing that we're called the tree huggers, because in addition to our love of nature, solidarity is also particularly important to us.

Bionikx is simply our way of gendering. We want all students to feel addressed and welcome, so in a nutshell: Bionikx!

The Bionikx course combines biology with technology, and at the same time, your creative streak is in demand. This interdisciplinary course is always open to new ideas.
