East Bavarian Technical University of Amberg-Weiden

Undergraduate Winter Semester Summer Semester

An English-taught engineering-management degree that bridges technical production systems with international business competencies, integrating mandatory industry internship and elective specialisation tracks spanning Data Science, Robotics, Smart Factory, and Supply Chain Management.
This bachelor's program at OTH Amberg-Weiden's Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Health prepares students to operate at the intersection of engineering and economics in an international context. Taught entirely in English, the curriculum integrates core technical disciplines — mechanics, materials engineering, production technology, electrical engineering, and physics — with a parallel track in business fundamentals covering accounting, marketing, business process management, and labor law. The interdisciplinary backbone of the program is equally strong: students work through project management and agile methods, statistics and quantitative methods, informatics, object-oriented coding, logistics, and intercultural communication from the early semesters. This dual-competence design reflects the program's orientation toward roles that require fluency in both production systems and business operations. From the fourth semester onward, the curriculum opens into three elective tracks — Science/Technology, Economics, and Interdisciplinary — allowing students to build focused expertise in areas such as Data Science for Engineers, Robotics, IoT Technology, SAP application development, Smart Factory, International Supply Chain Management, or Business Model Innovation. This modular flexibility means no two students graduate with identical profiles. A defining feature of the program structure is the mandatory practical phase: a full semester-equivalent internship integrated into the curriculum and worth substantial academic credit. This is followed by the bachelor's thesis, which students typically complete in collaboration with an industry partner or research unit. The combination of German engineering education standards, English-medium delivery, and obligatory industry immersion makes this program particularly relevant for students who plan to work in internationally operating manufacturing or technology companies.
