The Pharmacy program at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg is a state-regulated degree in pharmaceutical sciences. It combines natural sciences, pharmaceutical subjects and clinical content to prepare students for the pharmacist profession and for scientific work in pharmacy, drug development and healthcare.
Pharmacy is the science of medicinal products. It studies the properties, effects, production, testing and dispensing of medicines. The program combines chemistry, biology, physics, physiology, pharmacology and clinical pharmacy. In Würzburg, the curriculum is structured into a four-semester basic phase and a four-semester advanced phase. After that, students complete the Practical Year (Praktisches Jahr) and the third part of the Pharmaceutical Examination, both required for licensure as a pharmacist in Germany.
