Department 05 Psychology and Sports Science
Welcome to Department 05. The department consists of the Institute of Psychology at the Westend Campus and the Institute of Sports Science and the Center for University Sports at the Ginnheim Campus. The Institutes of Psychology and Sports Science have been united in one department since 2001 and consist of a total of around 20 professorships and other cooperation professorships, primarily with the German Institute for International Educational Research in Frankfurt. Since April 2014, the Center for University Sports has also been part of Department 05.
We offer five of our own degree programs (B.A. Sports Science, B.Sc. Psychology, M.A. Sports Medical Training & Clinical Exercise Physiology, M.A. Social Sciences of Sports, M.Sc. Psychology) and are involved in teacher training. In research, the institutes are networked with many other departments and institutions in and outside of Frankfurt and we have intensive international contacts.
The University Sports Centre offers an extensive sports programme for all students and staff at Goethe University, which aims to provide a healthy balance to everyday university studies and work life. The sports programme includes almost 300 courses per week in over 60 sports.
