About the university

Each year, over 6,000 candidates apply for a place in Kempten and this figure is growing. Some 6.000 students are currently enrolled in our 18 Bachelor and 13 Master’s degree courses. 140 full-time professors give the majority of the lectures, supported by some 200 assistant lecturers from industry. A provisional start-up building has now been replaced by a 42,000 m² campus in Bahnhofstraße with modern teaching facilities, laboratories, a library and a canteen. 200 non-academic staff keep the University administration, faculties and laboratories running smoothly.

A key feature of Kempten University of Applied Sciences is the broad and in-depth qualifications it offers with selected foundation degree programmes with a sensible level of specialisation in the second half of the programme. We have a particular focus on practice and international aspects.

A wide range of partnerships with business provide an excellent framework for applied study. Students have the chance to spend part of their degree abroad at one of around 80 partner universities across the world.

The tuition fees of 400 euros per semester are used to improve studying conditions, in particular the service infrastructure and teaching in small groups.

As part of the target capacity development plan of the Bavarian regional government, the University created a further 1,254 places by 2011.

Faculties

The faculty determines the campus, the language of its programmes and the admission committee that evaluates your grades. Requirements can differ between faculties of the same university.

Studienkolleg

If your school certificate does not give direct admission, you first go to a Studienkolleg and pass the Feststellungsprüfung — it is recognised by every university. The colleges listed here are this university's partners.

How to apply

The general procedure is the same for all programmes of the university; the required grade, language and additional requirements are on the page of each programme.

  1. 1
    Check your school-leaving certificate
Direct admission, admission after a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — it depends on your country and certificate.
  2. 2
    German B2 and a certificate
DSH, TestDaF or telc C1 Hochschule — before you apply, not after.
  3. 3
    Application via uni-assist
Bachelor's until 15.07, master's until 15.07. Deadlines differ between programmes — check the programme page.
  4. 4
    Admission, visa, moving
Plan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account — start them in parallel with the application.

If you don't meet the requirements yet

Two typical stops: a school certificate without direct admission and German below the required level. Both can be solved within a year, but plan them before you apply, not after a rejection.
