About the faculty

Associated scientists from the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research Bremerhaven (AWI), the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology Bremen (MPI), the Research Institute Senckenberg am Meer Wilhelmshaven (SaM), the Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology Bremen (ZMT) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) provide a significant contribution to research and teaching. The MARUM - Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, funded among others by the Excellence Initiative, emerged from our department and now forms an independent research faculty of the University of Bremen.
