Aircraft and Flight Engineering, B.Sc.

The degree program Aircraft and Flight Engineering, or AFE, combines aeronautical engineering training with a training program for pilots. This makes it a unique degree program in Europe, supported jointly by Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and the University of the West of England in Bristol. In addition to its internationality, the defining features of this degree program are its flexibility and options, such as that of various flight training licenses and authorizations. Graduates are later employed in flight testing, in technical aviation, in aircraft maintenance, or in the area of technical management.

Will I get in

The programme has an admission restriction: the average grade of your certificate, converted to the German scale, decides. The cut-off changes every year — last year's value shows the order of magnitude, not a promise.

Career

The career prospects of graduates of the Aircraft & Flight Engineering degree program are outstanding: they can work as pilots and at the same time as engineers with their pilot training and their Bachelor of Science degree. Their fields of activity are correspondingly diverse. As the flight testing, technical aviation and executive aviation, but also the aircraft maintenance and technical management. The graduates are employed in the aerospace industry, at airlines and at airports. In addition, they are active in the supply industry, for example, with manufacturers of engines and navigation instruments or in companies for the development of control software.

Graduates are not the only ones open to the labor market in Germany. They also have great opportunities internationally. They are qualified for this through an integrated year abroad at a partner university.

For students who show above-average performance in Osnabrück in the first two years, there is the opportunity to switch directly to a master's program and, after a further two years, to graduate with the prestigious Master of Aeronautical System Engineering degree. The German Bachelor of Science of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences continues to be acquired.

Not a few former students have even found their way into a scientific career. As flexible as the study program at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences is set up, students can react flexibly to different situations in their working lives. If, one day, a graduate does not want to work in the air - for health reasons, for example - there are still plenty of opportunities to pursue a professional career on the ground.

If your level is not enough yet

The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
