Chemistry and biochemistry, B.Sc.
In the bachelor's degree program "Chemistry and Biochemistry" at the LMU, students are prepared for the challenges of an experimental science such as chemistry or biochemistry with a high proportion of internships. The program is designed to familiarize students with experimental methods through a close combination of theory and practice. The relevant specialist knowledge is imparted and observation skills and manual skills are trained, especially in the handling of hazardous substances. These skills are an indispensable prerequisite for independent scientific work.

Pick programmesCareer
The bachelor's degree enables an early transition into professional life and at the same time prepares for the two advanced courses with the master's degrees in chemistry or biochemistry, for example. In chemistry and biochemistry, a doctorate is usually the aim, which opens the doors to managerial positions. In the chemical industry, positions in research, production, analytics, patent law or management are available. Chemistry is also in demand in the rest of the economy as a cross-sectional subject, for example in management consultancies, insurance companies and banks. In the public sector, positions are available in environmental analysis, in supervisory authorities, clinics, libraries and museums. Universities and Max Planck Institutes are primarily dedicated to research. Freelance work includes areas such as patent law, analytics, disposal and recycling.

- 2German up to C1 and a certificateDSH or TestDaF has to be passed before you apply.
- 3Documents and translationsCertified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.

How to apply
You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.
Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:
- ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
- ×a wrong set of documents
- ×the application submitted the wrong way
- ×errors or gaps in the application form
- ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late
An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.
StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.
If your level is not enough yet
The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
