StudyInFocus

Communications and Signal Processing, M.Sc.

The two-year program starts with some basic lectures**, bringing students from all over the world to a common level of knowledge. With this background, students are well prepared for the in-depth lectures of the second and third semesters. Students are motivated to work on the tasks discussed in the lectures at home. Homeworks and student research projects encourage academic work and offer research and development opportunities as well as the chance to work in groups. In the projects, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering disciplines and to learn working methods, skills and modern engineering tools, which are important for their professional career.

Will I get in

The programme has an admission restriction: the average grade of your certificate, converted to the German scale, decides. The cut-off changes every year — last year's value shows the order of magnitude, not a promise.

What you study

The CSP program focuses on fundamental concepts, e. g., information theory, coding, modulation, (convex) optimization techniques, compressed sensing, tensor-based signal processing, multi-modal data fusion, machine learning, data analytics, parameter estimation, array signal processing, adaptive filters and many applications that lead to rewarding career opportunities, e.g., in data science, future systems for data transmission, channel modeling, antenna design, connected/autonomous vehicles, radar/sonar, wearable technologies, audio coding, hearing aids, multimedia systems, biomedical signal processing, brain-computer interfaces, improved medical scans, biometric security, big data, stock quote analysis and more.

How to get into this programme

  1. 1
Check your certificate and its recognition
Direct admission, a year at a university at home, or Studienkolleg first — this decides the whole plan.
  2. 2
    Documents and translations
Certified translations of the certificate and transcript, an APS if required. 3–4 weeks.
  3. 3
Application directly to the university until 15.05
Send the documents well before the deadline — an incomplete application cannot be completed after it.
  4. 4
    Admission, visa, moving
Plan 2–3 months for the visa and the blocked account in parallel.

How to apply

You can submit the application yourself or with our help — the university decides on admission in both cases.

Apply yourself

Applications go through the university's portal or uni-assist. Typical mistakes:

  • ×incorrectly made certified copies and translations
  • ×a wrong set of documents
  • ×the application submitted the wrong way
  • ×errors or gaps in the application form
  • ×the application submitted at the wrong time — too early or too late

An incomplete or incorrectly prepared application is excluded from the selection — it can no longer be corrected after the deadline.

StudyInFocus does not represent the university and does not influence the admission decision. We do not sell study places and do not guarantee admission — this is a service for preparing and submitting documents on the applicant's side.

If your level is not enough yet

The two most common stoppers are a language level below the requirement and a certificate without direct admission. Both can be solved, but they take months — plan them now, not after a rejection.
