About the method

A questionnaire of 42 statements after John Holland's model of career interests (RIASEC), 7 per type; «yes» answers are counted. We corrected the key (item 33 was counted the wrong way round, item 11 twice), replaced outdated items with statements of the same type and show fields of study in Germany instead of American «career pathways». The questionnaire has no norms: look at the order of the types, not at the scores.

Frequently asked questions

What is RIASEC?
John Holland's model of career interests: six types — realistic (R), investigative (I), artistic (A), social (S), enterprising (E) and conventional (C). Career counsellors in many countries use it.
How is it different from the Holland test?
Same model, different questions: here you answer «yes» or «no» to every activity, in the Holland test you pick one profession of two. If you take both, the 2–3 types that repeat are the most reliable.
How accurate is the result?
It is a short questionnaire without norms — an orientation, not a diagnosis. Look at the order of the types rather than the scores, and at the 2–3 leading types rather than one.
What do I do with the result?
Open the fields of study linked in the result. If you are unsure — career guidance with a consultant.
