The job profile of modern architects is associated with a high degree of responsibility, both towards the client and towards society. As a cultural practice, architecture is closely tied to social, technological and economic developments. The diversity of the discipline unites the humanities, social and natural sciences as well as subjects from technology and art. Depending on the task, in addition to artistic design, questions of building construction, planning, business administration, project management, urban planning, building technology or sociology or architectural theory can be important.

The training content of the Bachelor's degree in Architecture is essentially based on the guidelines of the Federal Chamber of Architects and international associations such as UIA and AESOP. Furthermore, the Federal Building Culture Foundation has clearly identified the social requirements for the profession and updated them in a broad discursive process.

The graduates of the Bachelor's degree in architecture have gained an overview of the various system and complexity levels of the job description and are able to understand the links between the sub-areas of architecture.

With the six semester bachelor's degree, you have acquired the subject-specific and scientific qualification for a subsequent master’s degree in architecture or related degree programs.
At the same time, they are prepared for work in the professional fields of architecture and urban and landscape planning. However, the professional qualification can only be achieved with the subsequent master’s degree, which, together with a two or three-year practical phase, is the condition for building submission authorization and membership in the Chamber of Architects.

The graduates have developed an awareness and a pronounced sensitivity for the sustainable handling of nature and the environment and are familiar with the architectural challenges associated with this.

You can critically evaluate scientific and subject-specific findings on how contemporary architecture and urban planning can be formulated and establish a connection to the social context. You are able to develop your own, if not yet well-founded, personal attitude in this context.

The graduates can use the central terms of the technical language and have an initial orientation about the current issues of the profession and the research landscape.

You have gained a solid and broad basic knowledge in the various specialist areas of architecture. This includes a theoretical artistic understanding, technically constructive knowledge, a sensitivity for the context and an education in building history and art history.

The graduates have learned to think and act independently.

You are familiar with the basics of scientific work and are able to analyze problems and critically question facts. You can imaginatively penetrate complex spatial situations and reproduce them in a comprehensible, unambiguous way with different tools.

You learned teamwork through three years of work in the six design studios. They have gained a wide range of experiences in different group constellations.

The graduates have practiced accessing information sources and can use the knowledge in a targeted and structured manner.

They are able to present the work results derived from them in an audience-oriented manner and to document them in an understandable form. In addition, they are able to compile their study results in a portfolio and to process them in personal form.

The study and examination regulations do not provide for a mandatory internship. A construction internship is also not necessary. It is strongly recommended that a six-month office internship be completed during the architecture degree, which is suitable to give the student an idea of the professional work of the architect. No credit points are assigned to the six-month office internship. It is not included in the overall grade.
