At the BTU, architects are trained in the bachelor's and master's degree programs as they are needed in practice and research.

Graduates of the bachelor's degree in architecture have the necessary skills to work in a small, regional architecture office as well as in a large architecture office with a division of labor at the highest level. In addition to this classic field of work, there are employment opportunities in construction management, in construction companies, in the construction departments of large companies and housing associations.

The scientifically and practice-oriented course provides the necessary skills, competencies, specialist knowledge and key qualifications for prospective architects with the primary goal of being able to carry out the usual practical and research tasks after graduation, under supervision.

The bachelor's degree is the first professional degree in architecture. The modules in the course of study convey qualifications that are necessary for later professional practice. The graduates are able to develop ideas both by hand and on the computer and to implement the drafts in structural and spatial form.

The architecture course at the BTU is consecutive. The 6-semester bachelor's degree basically opens up the possibility of access to the master’s degree in architecture and related subjects.

Only the master’s degree is the prerequisite for self-reliant and independent work as an architect and subsequent entry in the chambers of architects of the member states of the European Union.

In addition to classic teaching methods such as lectures and seminars, project work in studios is an essential form of teaching in architecture studies. The students, accompanied by the teachers, learn to solve practical tasks step by step and in a targeted manner, as well as to think and represent them in a way that is understandable in terms of design in the form of plans, floor plans, sections, views and three-dimensional models. The knowledge is deepened in workshops and excursions.

It is recommended to complete an internship before starting your studies.

A voluntary internship in an architecture office carried out during the course can be listed in the final documents upon request.
