The course leads to recognized professional qualifications as a computer scientist and in particular to professional qualification in the main areas of artificial intelligence and data science. In addition, it prepares the basis for further academic qualification as part of a master's degree in computer science.

Knowledge and skills from the most important areas of computer science and mathematics are acquired on a scientific basis. Building on this basic knowledge in both areas, special methods and applications of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis and statistics are taught.

The students should be empowered to systematically analyze problems arising from specific practical questions and to design, implement and integrate AI systems according to the latest state of the art in technology and science, and to integrate them into a system environment. The acquired basic scientific knowledge and working techniques also enable the students to develop new solutions and to evaluate the solutions developed taking into account different standards, even with frequently changing requirements, and to design lifelong learning processes.

In addition to specialist knowledge, the course teaches methods of scientific work as well as social skills to promote personal development. As a result, graduates are able to analyze and reflect on work processes. They have the ability to recognize the effects of computer science, especially through artificial intelligence and data science, on the environment and society, and to take legal and ethical requirements into account.

The practical study semester takes place in the 5th semester. You can do your internship in the region with well-known companies or exciting startups. In addition, there are also many internship assignments throughout Germany and the opportunity to go abroad for your internship.

The studies at the university are characterized by a high level of practical relevance. We offer practical exercises in small groups for almost all subjects. The course comprises a total of seven semesters and is divided into three sections. The internship semester is part of the second stage. The bachelor thesis completes the course.

1. Section (Semester 1 and 2): Basics

3. Section (semesters 6 and 7): specialization, bachelor thesis

The course comprises the following areas:

  • Basics: mathematics, basics of AI and computer science, IT law and ethics, scientific work
  • Statistics: statistics and probability calculation, linear and non-linear methods, multivariate statistics
  • Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: Neural Networks, Machine Learning, AI for Computer Games, Image and Speech Recognition, Data Mining
  • IT: programming, databases, web technologies, algorithms, networks, IT security, cloud computing

It is mathematics which lays the foundation for all technical and business disciplines.
