Automation specialists are just as important for manufacturers of production systems, in automobile production and for specialists in mechanical engineering, e.g. the machine tool manufacturers. The age pyramid in our population means that significantly more engineers will retire from their professional lives in the next few years than are currently being trained. The new course wants to help close this gap and at the same time train specialists for a very large segment of the labor market.

Basic internship

A basic internship is not required. Before starting your studies, however, we recommend that you work in relevant companies so that you can get an idea of what you will do later on.

Internship semester

The practical study semester is usually in the fourth semester. It is systematically guided and covers a continuous period of 18 weeks. There are also a number of practical courses. The internship semester can also be completed abroad. The university has good company contacts and helps in the search for a suitable internship.

  • Electrical measurement technology
  • Digital technology
  • Microcomputer technology
  • Electric drives and networks
  • Signals and systems
  • Basics of control and regulation technology

4. Semester: Internship semester

5. until the 7th semester

Compulsory subjects:

  • Control and converter technology
  • Kinematics and control of robots
  • Image processing
  • Motioncontrol
  • Hardware and software design in automation technology.

Application-oriented specialization subjects with a choice of:

  • Simulation techniques with MathLab / Simulink
  • Design of mechatronic systems
  • Control technology and industrial bus systems
  • Technology of CNC-controlled machine tools
  • Robot programming
  • Practical control technology

Specializations offered in other faculties such as Sensor and actuator technology or manufacturing technology can be documented.

7. Semester:

Bachelor thesis with accompanying seminar and methods of project processing.
