The Automotive Bachelor's degree program is aimed at vehicle engineers of tomorrow who want to use their skills to make an important contribution to the mobility transition.

As a mechanical engineering degree program with a special focus on the automotive industry and the automotive supplier industry, it provides the theoretical and practical foundations for vehicle technology. A prerequisite for a successful degree is an enjoyment of the natural sciences of mathematics, physics and chemistry as well as computer science. The automotive and automotive supplier industry in North Rhine-Westphalia is one of the most innovative industries with strong growth forecasts for the future. The demand for qualified specialists is high. The supplier industry is becoming increasingly important. Today, over 10,000 parts are installed in a car. Around 70 percent of these are not only manufactured by supplier companies, but are also largely developed.
The supplier industry not only plays an important role in the economic structure of South Westphalia, it was also involved in the development of the course.

Becoming a vocational school teacher

In addition to entering the industry, graduates of the mechanical engineering bachelor's degree programs can also work as vocational school teachers:
The South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences enables students and joint students of some subjects to study to become teachers at a university. In cooperation with the universities in Paderborn, Siegen and Wuppertal, students are enabled to complete a Master of Education at one of the universities after completing their engineering degree and the teaching degree option at a vocational college.

The Automotive degree program provides a broad, application-oriented, technical education for the automotive industry on a scientific basis, with a specific focus on the automotive supply industry.

The first three semesters include basic subjects from the fields of mathematics, computer science, physics and engineering. In the three semesters that follow, knowledge in the various automotive application areas is deepened and expanded.

The Bachelor's degree program has a modular structure. In addition to compulsory modules that are mandatory for all students and in which theoretical and methodological specialist knowledge is imparted, there are elective modules that can be selected from predefined catalogs. Analytical skills and methodological competence are trained and expanded in exercises and internships. Examinations are taken in all compulsory and elective modules.
