The M.Sc. programme "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology" is an intensive, research oriented training programme. It will last either 18 or 24 months, depending on whether you participate in the accelerated schedule by participating in courses all year, or in the regular schedule (following the semester structure at German universities). You will receive an thorough education in biochemistry and molecular biology, which will expand your previous knowledge in chemistry or biology (or other related studies which you have finished with a B.Sc.). The education is organized in modules A - G which contain mandatory modules, a supplementary module of your choice, laboratory rotations, a project proposal and a Master Thesis.
"Microbial Systems (MicroSys)" is a specialization within the above mentioned programme with focus on molecular microbiology, diversity and applied microbiology. The Universities of Applied Sciences Bremen and Bremerhaven are participating in this specialization.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology"
The occupational fields in which biochemists and molecular bioscientists work are exceptionally diverse. This is due to the central importance of this discipline in the intersection of chemistry and life sciences. The occupational field extends from basic research at universities or research institutes (eg Max Planck Institute) through research, development, monitoring and distribution in biotechnology to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry in research, development and production. Further occupational fields are distribution of biochemical and pharmaceutical products, quality assurance, food control, management consultancy, state administration, patents or environmental authorities.
Учебный план программы обучения "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology"
You will receive a well-grounded education in biochemistry and molecular biology that enhances your previous background in chemistry or biology (or other related studies you have completed with a B.Sc.).
The compulsory course in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and microbiology goes beyond your current knowledge and extends your background in chemistry or biology. Further modular courses will expand and deepen the aspects of courses taught in the first semester. They participate in the work of two different research groups, in which you gain knowledge about the group's scientific problems as well as experimental techniques and approaches to tackling these problems. In the fourth semester, you will work on and defend your Master's thesis.

Факультет
Fachbereich 02: Biologie/Chemie
(1) The number of undergraduate and graduate students may be limited and may be revised annually. If the number of applicants fulfilling the admission requirements according to § 1 exceeds the existing capacities, then a ranking according to paragraph 2 will be made according to which the places will be awarded.
(2) A selection committee in accordance with § 5 will evaluate the application documents on the basis of the evaluation scheme described in paragraph 3.
(3) The selection committee will evaluate the application documents on the basis of the following criteria and their weighting and rank among the applicants. Candidates can reach a maximum of 120 points, divided among the selection criteria as follows:
a. A maximum of 60 points for the overall grade of the previous degree or the grade point average achieved at the time of application (at least 120 CP). Hereby, the points according to the grade rank of the applicant are awarded as follows:
- 1.0 60 points - 1.01 - 1.3 55 points - 1.31 - 1.7 50 points - 1.71 - 2.0 45 points - 2.01 - 2.3 40 points - 2,31 - 2,7 35 points - 2.71 - 3.0 30 points - 3.01 - 3.3 25 points - 3,31 - 3,7 20 points - 3.71 - 4.0 10 points
Points are awarded for the notes rounded up to the decimal place. The maximum score is 60, the minimum score is 10.
b. A maximum of 48 points for the result of passing the aptitude test. The pass rate is given in%, rounded up to integers. The results of the passed aptitude test are scored as follows: for every 2% of the maximum achievable points achieved in the test by the candidate, 1 point is awarded.
c. A maximum of 12 points for the letter of motivation (justification for the interest in the degree program). Criteria for the evaluation of the letter are the specific reference to the degree program, the clear description of one's own qualifications and goals, in particular with regard to the relationship between career path and course of studies, as well as the consistency of study motivation with the orientation of the study program.
4. The selection committee shall propose a ranking for the approval on the basis of the evaluation of the application dossier in accordance with paragraph 3.
(5) A selection according to hardness is possible. The places of the hardness quota (5%) are awarded on application to applicants for whom non-admission would mean extraordinary hardship. An extraordinary severity exists if special social or family reasons in the person of the applicant necessarily require the immediate admission of the study. The ranking is determined by the degree of extraordinary hardness.
(6) The Rector of the University of Bremen decides on admission to study and objections to rejecting decisions.
