Программа обучения Biophysics

Программа обучения "Biophysics" в Universität des Saarlandes

Biophysik

The investigation of biological processes increasingly requires the use of physical knowledge and physical methods; Physical strategies and approaches enable comprehensive insights into complex biological processes.

At the moment, initiatives for the training of qualified scientists who move at the border between biology and physics are increasingly being taken worldwide. Saarland University is playing a pioneering role here with its degree program and the close link between physics and life sciences. Biophysics at Saarland University combines a physics degree with the acquisition of basic biological knowledge, on which graduates can easily build up specialist knowledge.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Biophysics"

Biophysicists have very good career opportunities due to their broad and fundamental training, e.g. in medical technology and biotechnology as well as in academic research institutions. There is a great need for highly qualified and broadly trained scientists in these areas.

Учебный план программы обучения "Biophysics"

In the interdisciplinary bachelor's degree in biophysics, students receive a broad education in experimental physics, theoretical physics and mathematics. This is supplemented by study content from the fields of chemistry (general, inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry), biology (human physiology, cell biology, genetics) and the special field of biophysics.

Physics is the main focus of the course. A total of 70 CP of the 180 CP acquired over the course of six semesters of the bachelor's degree are accounted for by lectures and exercises in the fields of physics and mathematics. In the field of experimental physics, the bachelor students deal with mechanics, vibrations and waves (1st semester), electricity theory (2nd semester), optics and thermodynamics (3rd semester), as well as quantum and atomic physics (6th semester). In theoretical physics, calculation methods of mechanics, analytical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum physics and statistical physics are dealt with. Linear algebra and analysis complete the mathematical background of the course.

From the second semester, special biophysical courses are offered that show important interdisciplinary aspects of biophysics. Numerous laboratory internships, which are completed during the course, explain to the students the necessary rules for setting up, carrying out and documenting scientific experiments and impart practical skills. The course is completed by preparing the bachelor thesis in a biophysically oriented research group.
