This course teaches the basics of business education, business administration, economics and educational science.

In addition, students choose a second subject from the range of business administration, chemistry, German, German as a foreign language, English, Protestant religion, French, history, computer science, mathematics, Russian and Spanish.

Upon completion of this interdisciplinary and practice-related course of study, the students acquire the technical and didactic knowledge which are prerequisites for a subsequent master's degree in business education.

Описание программы обучения "Business Education"

The course, its curriculum and the design of the teaching and learning processes are geared towards the development of professional and business pedagogical professionalism.

To this end, the students are familiarized with the central content of vocational and business education and the specialist sciences in a way that enables them to reflect on practical problems in a theory-based manner and to develop and implement subject-based solutions. It is also about the ability to independently develop the current scientific status of the discipline across the professional and life span through its own further training.

In addition to professional knowledge and skills, the desired professional competence also includes affective and volitive components and has a clear reference to the pedagogical tasks, structures and problems of the field of action.

Business educators are traditionally polyvalent, that is, they are trained for use in different areas.

This study plan takes this into account in particular by the following characteristics:

  • a close link between the curriculum and the specialist sciences (business administration, economics, business informatics)
  • the curricular and organizational integration of the focal points (business administration, chemistry, German, German as a second language, English, Protestant religion, French, history, computer science, mathematics, Russian, Spanish) as well as the distinctive position of business education

A high level of teaching quality in terms of subject matter and university teaching is ensured in the course by the following principles:

  • Teaching from research: The essential basis of teaching in the field of business education are on the one hand the third-party funded projects of the professorship and on the other hand cooperation agreements with companies and organizations.
  • Involvement of the students in research: The students participate in the processing of the third-party funded projects and the fulfillment of the cooperation contracts within the scope of their study assignments.
  • Practice-oriented university teaching: In addition to the university didactic concept of business education, internships at vocational schools, in companies, organizations and authorities also serve this purpose.

Consistent use of modern technology and advanced university didactics for the design of teaching-learning processes: The study is carried out on the basis of intensive use of computer and data network-based arrangements and teaching-learning forms, as well as using learning software. In addition, teaching and learning with computers, data networks and learning software is a central subject of the curriculum.

Courses can be held in English. The lecturer decides on the language of instruction in elective and elective modules. The teaching language will be announced in good time electronically (course catalog).

The aim of the training is the ability and willingness to act in a theoretical, reflective and responsible manner in pedagogical fields of action in commercial education. This applies in particular

  • the development of competencies with a view to determining the goals and content of educational programs (curriculum development; curriculum analysis and assessment)
  • the analysis and design of teaching, instruction and courses in the commercial area as well as the enabling of learning, qualification and educational processes, in particular using computers, data networks, learning and work software
  • the determination and assessment of personal learning and educational prerequisites as well as the related vocational and educational advice
  • the development of the framework conditions for commercial education (school and organizational development, learning location cooperation, means of organization, certification and examination system as well as further training organization and education management)

Учебный план программы обучения "Business Education"

The course includes the compulsory area of economic and pedagogical subjects in the amount of 110 credit points (including a bachelor thesis in the amount of 10 credit points), the compulsory area in the second subject (focus) in the amount of 30 credit points, the elective area economics with 10 credit points and the area of supplementary studies amounting to 30 CP. In the supplementary studies, 10 credits are allocated to the faculty's internal module “Statistics and Probability Analysis” and 10 credits to modules from the area of cross-faculty offers of key qualifications at the student's choice. Another 10 CP can be achieved in the area of subject-related key qualifications in other ways, in particular through an internship or as part of a stay abroad.
