Professionals in the field of business informatics plan and develop business information and communication systems which improve the business processes of organisations or even make them possible. For example, administrative tasks (payroll accounting), production control, or customer relationship management (CRM) are organized using information technology.
Professionals in this field work at the intersection of business administration and information / communication technology and must possess both technical knowledge and business administrative know-how. The development of software solutions begins with consulting and planning discussions with the client and an analysis of the present organizational situation within the company. Based on the information gained through such consultations, requirements for the IT system are complied in a specifications sheet and a target concept is developed. Depending on the existing information technology already in use in the company (where applicable), adaptations are performed or a completely new system is developed and introduced.
Business informatics specialists work in companies in nearly all branches; as well as in public authorities and institutions which use information technology in carrying out business processes. Such specialists are even needed in companies which develop IT-supported information systems themselves. Related professions include computer scientists, business economists, trained businessmen and women, industrial engineers and financial mathematicians.

Учебный план программы обучения "Business Informatics"
The Business Informatics programme at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology combines the advantages of the classic Business Administration and Computer Sciences programmes with specific and modern topics in business informatics. Two further specific characteristics are highly useful for students in the program:
Firstly, they have the opportunity to complete a “study programme with an in-depth practical component”. Thus they are able to develop closer contact with companies during their studies. Secondly, they profit from international university and business contacts which are associated with the DIT. A grounded general education is expected from the preparatory school years. Of special importance are the subjects German and Mathematics. The current capacity of the Business Informatics programme is a maximum of 68 students per year.
Due to its unparalleled profile among southern Bavarian universities, interest in the programme extends far beyond the local region. Graduates of the program are awarded the title, “Bachelor of Science” (B.Sc.). The bachelor degree consists of 210 ECTS credit points. After the bachelor programme, experienced business computer scientists may go on to complete the Master of Business Informatics programme at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology or at another university.
