Today, large areas of economics are strongly quantitatively oriented and require the use of the most modern mathematical methods. The Bachelor's degree in Business Mathematics therefore prepares students to solve complex mathematical problems in professional life that arise from economic issues. In the bachelor's degree, which cannot be chosen as a minor, the basics of mathematics and economics are first taught. In the subsequent specialization phase, in addition to mathematical specialization modules, economic modules are also planned, which can be chosen from the areas of "Insurance and Finance", "Operations & Supply Chain Management" and "Economics".
The particularly wide range of courses enables students to design the bachelor's degree according to their personal inclinations. During their studies, they will also get an insight into the everyday working life of business mathematicians on excursions.

The career prospects for business mathematicians are excellent, because in many areas (e.g. in finance and business consultants), in addition to specialist knowledge, the ability of graduates is particularly valued, thanks to a systematic, analytical approach and interdisciplinary way of thinking solve complex economic problems. The bachelor's degree qualifies for a master’s degree in business mathematics, mathematics and business administration or economics.

First, you will learn the basics of mathematics and economics in compulsory courses. In the subsequent specialization phase, in addition to mathematical specialization modules, which can mainly be selected from the areas of applied mathematics, discrete mathematics and stochastics, economic modules are also planned, which are selected from the areas of insurance and finance, operations research, business informatics, marketing, health economics and economics can. Overall, the economics components make up about a third of the entire course. You also benefit from the very extensive range of services offered by the Faculty of Business Administration and the Department of Economics. The course usually ends after three years with a written bachelor thesis.
Both the mathematics and the economics part of the study consist of two study phases:
- Basic phase
- Mathematics: Linear Algebra and Analytical Geometry, Analysis, Numerical Mathematics and Mathematical Stochastics
- Economics: including investment, finance, micro and macroeconomics
- General professional qualifications: programming methods, software internship
- Consolidation phase
