The versatility of business mathematics
Business mathematicians are in demand in many industries. Wherever math professionals are needed who are also familiar with economics and computer science, they are used: in banks, insurance companies, investment companies, management consultancies, institutes for market and opinion research or finance and logistics departments in medium-sized and large companies . The need for well-trained specialists is great and, according to the experts, will continue to increase, especially in the banking and insurance sectors.
Interdisciplinarity through three focal points
In the bachelor's degree in Business Mathematics at HTW Berlin, you acquire the specialist knowledge you need for professional success. The course is based on the three pillars of mathematics - to which around 2/3 of the weekly hours are devoted -, economics and computer science. General science supplementary subjects (AWE), for example on communication methods, and subject-related English training complete the course.
Practical relevance and specialist knowledge
The high degree of practical relevance of the course guarantees, on the one hand, the eleven-week specialist internship in the 6th semester - ideally, you will include the experience gained there in your bachelor's thesis - on the other hand, theoretical knowledge acquired during the study phases at HTW Berlin will be tested on current issues. As part of group exercises, you will strengthen your ability to work in a team. If you want to get deeper into the subject after completing your bachelor's degree, you can specialize in the master's program in Financial Services - Risk Management
