Wirtschaftsmathematik

The study of business mathematics is a mathematics course in which basic structures and techniques are introduced that enable the analysis and solution of mathematical problems as they occur in the finance and insurance industry. Relevant courses in financial and insurance mathematics, economics and statistics are therefore integrated into the course. In addition, with the help of numerical methods, the students learn how to implement abstract mathematical solution methods on the computer.

The attractive field of employment for graduates of the Business Mathematics bachelor’s program includes in particular the finance and insurance industry, i.e. banks, insurance companies, management consultancies, etc. The economy’s need for highly qualified, interdisciplinary trained specialists with core competencies in mathematics, as well as profound knowledge of statistics and in economics is large and steadily increasing.

Учебный план программы обучения "Business Mathematics"

The bachelor's degree in Business Mathematics leads to a professional degree in the standard period of study of 6 semesters. It consists of 22 compulsory and at least 5 compulsory elective courses and concludes with a bachelor thesis. The introductory mathematics lectures take place together with the Bachelor of Mathematics. A total of 180 points according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS points) must be acquired as part of this bachelor’s degree. This is done by passing the examinations belonging to the individual courses and by successfully working on the bachelor thesis, whereby a certain number of ECTS points are acquired in each case.
