In cinematography and interdisciplinary courses, students acquire theoretical knowledge and put it into practice during format development workshops, lighting seminars, and project work. Small class sizes allow for personalized training.

During their undergraduate program, students develop and implement one non-fiction and one fiction film project in collaboration with other disciplines. Many of these films are screened and reviewed at international film festivals. For further cinematography exercises and graduation projects, students have access to up-to-date 2D and 3D high-definition technology. The film university's Cinematography B.F.A. program adequately prepares students for creative teamwork in the audiovisual media industry.

In Cinematography we train camera women and men with extensive technical know-how, scientific background knowledge and an own artistic handwriting. The program qualifies the graduates to work in the fictional and documentary area, to design contracts for film and television productions in the fields of camera, light and color grading. From improvisation in independently produced experimental films to technically fully-fledged cinematographic films, students can freely develop in 2- and 3-D. The study offers a good prerequisite for participation in artistic teams of audiovisual media productions.

The Cinematography B.F.A. program combines theoretical fundamentals with practical and creative exercises in the field of image composition. Artistic and theoretical courses allow students to focus on both cinematography and interdisciplinary work. The program provides insights into cinematography for both documentary and fiction films and gives students ample opportunity to put their knowledge into practice in exercises and projects. Format development workshops, lighting seminars, and in-depth exercises are offered as one-to-one courses and often involve interdisciplinary collaboration.

The program comprises the following modules: Creative / Media Theory, Technological Tools, Creative Cinematography I, Creative Cinematography II, Creative Cinematography III, Professional Practice, Electives, Interdisciplinary Non-fictional Film Project F1, Interdisciplinary Fictional Film Project F2, Artistic Graduation Project, Bachelor's Thesis.

The selection process consists of the pre-selection of applicants and the admission test, which comprises two stages. Based on the work samples and materials submitted, the admissions committee will decide which applicants will receive permission to take the admission test and inform them in writing.
