Civil engineers take on the planning, execution and operation of facilities to protect the environment. It deals with topics such as supplying the population with drinking water and wastewater treatment. Other areas of responsibility are protection against flooding and the maintenance of natural waters. Transport is also an area of ​​application for graduates.

The aim of the seven-semester Bachelor's program at the University of Kassel is a generalist, practical and scientifically oriented education. In the first semesters, engineering fundamentals are taught in mathematics and mechanics, in natural science subjects, in IT applications and in civil engineering. The students can then set priorities and choose between seven fields of study: construction and construction management, structural engineering, transport, water, numerical methods of structural analysis, road construction and materials.

An internship in construction companies, engineering offices, building administrations or with private sponsors often creates contacts with later employers. The bachelor's degree enables you to practice your profession directly or to start a subsequent master's degree.

Interested parties should bring math knowledge with them - a preliminary course refreshes them.

    The Faculty 14 Civil and Environmental Engineering currently consists of 18 departments with around 140 employees. These are summarized in six institutes:

    • IKI - Institute for Structural Engineering
    • IfV - Institute of Transportation
    • IWAU - Institute for Water, Waste and Environment.

    In addition, there is the special professorship "Sustainable Resource Management", which is located at the Center for Environmental Systems Research (CESR).
