The university bachelor's degree in civil engineering is completed after 6 semesters of regular study time with the degree Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). In the first four semesters, you will be taught scientific and technical skills and methods of the field (basic study), on the basis of which you will study one of the two majors in structural engineering or building materials and renovation in the fifth and sixth semesters. No matter which specialization you choose, they all impart knowledge and skills with which you can plan and design, construct and organize in your professional life in order to help shape our structural environment. You will acquire a first academic professional qualification and can further expand on the specializations in the corresponding master's program!

The specialization in structural engineering prepares you for the responsible design-related planning and erection of building structures. This includes e.g. the structural design and the technical conception, the static modeling and calculation, the dimensioning and constructive design of building structures as well as the planning, management and supervision of the construction.

The specialization in building materials and renovation is based on the disciplines of physics, chemistry, mineralogy, crystallography and engineering and prepares you for an activity in the design, manufacture, characterization, processing, application and utilization of modern construction and Materials.

The bachelor’s degree Civil Engineering lasts six semesters, i.e. three years. During this time, you will go through several modules, each of which conclude with a examination performance (exam, project work, homework, etc.) You will be credited with credit points per completed module. In total, you need to 180 credit points to earn a Bachelor of Science.

You will be taught the content in lectures, exercises and application-related project work. In addition to the acquisition of subject-specific key qualifications - such as B. Technical drawing, library research, scientific work and rhetoric - the practical, holistic and interdisciplinary examination of buildings and structures in their life cycle. In excursions, guest lectures and a twelve-week mandatory internship, you will gain an insight into professional practice. The degree concludes with a bachelor thesis in the sixth semester.
