Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Computer Engineering"

Worldwide, there is a long-term need for engineering graduates in both industry and universities. The Bachelor's degree programs of the ISE study program are given a special career perspective, in that the combination of subjects and forms of mediation creates a connection between the broadest possible engineering foundation and application-oriented subjects that convey methods and skills that can be used as directly as possible in professional practice. In addition, the Bachelor's degree programs of the ISE study program are enhanced by a comparatively high level of language and cultural knowledge. This component of the training corresponds to the requirements of the industry for future graduates, who, with the attributes of teamwork, knowledge of foreign languages and international experience, increasingly put skills in dealing with customers alongside purely technical expertise.

Международный обмен по программе обучения "Computer Engineering"

For students who have obtained their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution, a stay of three to six months is mandatory. This can be used to earn credit points, to carry out the Bachelor's thesis or to complete a practical job.

Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "Computer Engineering"

During the bachelor's degree, 13 weeks of practical work experience must be completed. It is part of the course and must be proven at the latest when registering for the bachelor's thesis.

During the course of the course, the internship should complement the course and deepen the theoretical knowledge acquired in its practical relevance. In the internship, the intern has the opportunity to get to know individual areas of an industrial company and thereby implement the knowledge acquired during the course. Another essential aspect is the understanding of the sociological side of the business. The intern must also understand the company as a social structure and get to know the relationship between managers and employees in order to correctly classify his or her future position and potential for effectiveness.

Учебный план программы обучения "Computer Engineering"

Through basic and method-oriented training and the imparting of work techniques in computer science and engineering, you will be able to make valuable contributions in your field of application right from the start and also be sustainable discontinue future IT technologies. The course offers a balanced combination of modules in engineering and general engineering and natural sciences, which are ultimately used in an integrated way in a practical project and in the bachelor thesis. The IT modules include digital technology basics, circuit design, computer architecture, basic and advanced programming, programming paradigms and modeling methods, software technology, operating systems, computer networks, Internet technologies with security technologies and database systems. The basic engineering and natural sciences include physics, electrical engineering, mechanics, and mathematics-related subjects. Finally, there are technical and non-technical electives.

The students learn how to use their IT skills in science and engineering application areas and learn to communicate with colleagues from various disciplines on a technical level. This will prepare graduates primarily for the following professional fields:

  • Construction and operation of computer systems and computer networks,
  • Software engineering for technology or engineering-oriented applications,
  • Development of application-specific systems using hardware components and application of software technologies.

The basic course in "Computer Engineering" is a deliberate combination of the areas of knowledge in electrical engineering and computer science, as this combination offers a wide range of applications for the graduates. At the same time, the two specializations

  • "Software Engineering" and
  • "Communications"

offered in order to offer graduates a specific focus in the direction of computer science or electrical and communication technology for work or a further master's degree.

The Software Engineering route deepens theoretical understanding of computer science issues and focuses on various aspects of software technology. Databases, modelling methods and operating systems seen from a computer science point of view complete this option. Students are therefore prepared for careers in the following areas:

  • Programming at various application levels;
  • Software engineering for technology-oriented or engineering-oriented applications;
  • Development of application-specific systems using software technologies and databases.

The Communications profile builds on the theoretical basis of communications and circuit technology and concentrates on various aspects of signals and systems, including computer networks. Databases and programming methods seen from the perspective of engineering sciences complete this option. Students are mainly prepared for careers in the following areas:

  • Design and operation of communications technology components and systems;
  • Software engineering for communications applications;
  • Development of application-specific systems for the integration of communications and computer technology.

    Faculty of Engineering
    University of Duisburg-Essen

    We are one of the youngest faculties at one of the oldest university campuses in the country. Already in 1655 a university was founded in Duisburg. This university existed until 1818. In 1972 the new University of Duisburg was founded. In 2003 the University of Duisburg merged with the neighboring University of Essen to the new University of Duisburg-Essen. As part of this merger the current shape of our faculty has been created; it is unique in Germany. Our four departments pursue research on a high, internationally recognized level. With about 80 professorships and more than 11,000 students our faculty belongs to the largest in Germany.
