Program Contents
The development of problem solutions for complex conservation and restoration projects and their practical implementation on the object are the focus of the master's program. Experience in the field of object inspection and practical restoration gives new impulses for conservation and restoration sciences:
- Deepening of the conservation and restoration sciences in the chosen specialty
- Deepening interdisciplinary cooperation
- Specialization in monument conservation issues
- Specialization options in neighboring subjects such as of art history or the natural sciences
- imparting project planning skills
Study Procedure
- 1st and 2nd semester: regular studies with demanding project work and a wide range of elective modules from the field of monument conservation
- 3rd Semester: Master thesis
- Workload: 30 ECTS points per semester, 30 ECTS points for the master's thesis in the third semester
Teaching formats
- Independent scientific work in art technology, as well as conservation and restoration research
- Intensive support and work in small study groups on high-quality art and cultural assets
- Individual use of the workshops and scientific laboratories
- Gathering experience in special areas of conservation and restoration such as management and organization of projects and work teams, assessment, risk assessment, object transport, public relations, etc.
- Interdisciplinary projects within the university
