Описание программы обучения "Digitale Medien"

Communication, work, or leisure time: Digital media are changing the world, while at the same time being subject to perpetual change themselves, often at a rapid pace. Only if we learn to live with this process of constant revision will we be able to mold the future according to our needs, both professional and personal.

Media connect people, and digital media do so using connected computers that in turn interact with humans. Human-computer interaction has many facets, involving new devices and interaction metaphors, scientific evaluation, user experience design, (serious) games, computer graphics, cognitive foundations, as well as interactive art in a virtual or physical form and ultimately cultural and social questions. The computer is the central tool for digital media; therefore, programming is a central skill that allows “creating your own media without the bonds of existing software tools” (D. Shiffman). Building on this essential skill as a prerequisite, the program addresses algorithmic questions, e.g. in computer graphics or machine…

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Digitale Medien"

The master's thesis' task is to prove the ability to follow scientific research methods (resp. artistic or design approaches for M.A.) and to contribute to science and/or art in the field of digital media, building on state-of-the-art knowledge and methods.

The topic for such a work can arise from unsolved problems in the prior master's project, can be chosen from topic offers available from several professors and other research staff of the faculty or may even be chosen from other, individual research.

    Методика оценки заявок

For applicants studying media design, the selection committee carries out a pre-selection based on the portfolio. The selection committee then conducts a personal selection interview with the group selected in this way to determine whether the applicant has the special artistic ability to study at an art college. The artistic ability is determined by at least two members of the selection committee and summarized in one grade.

For applicants studying media informatics, the evaluation scheme is as follows:

    a. Overall grade of the previous degree or the average grade achieved at the time of application (at least 150 CP) (double weighting),

    b. Subject-specific relevance of the first degree for the intended field of study in media informatics (double weighting),

    c. Content, elaboration and technical relevance of the portfolio for the intended field of study in media informatics (double weighting),

    d. If applicable, the relevance and quality of previous professional activities and internships with regard to the intended field of study in media informatics, if any (simple weighting).

For letters b to d, at least two members of the selection committee will award grades in tenth increments from 1.0 (very good) to 5.0 (poor). The overall grade is determined as follows: The products of the grade and the respective weight are added; the sum calculated in this way is divided by the sum of the weights.

Based on the assessment made in accordance with paragraphs 3 and 4, the selection committees will rank each university according to the grade achieved among the applicants who have achieved at least a grade of 2.5.
