Acquisition of the necessary basic knowledge of the main components

The Bachelor's degree in Business Mathematics comprises a total of 180 credit points, which are earned from compulsory modules and elective modules of the following module complexes:

  • Mathematical basics (analysis, algebra)
  • Applied mathematics (numerical mathematics, probability theory / statistics, optimization)
  • Business mathematics (further modules of numerical mathematics, probability theory / statistics, optimization, financial mathematics)
  • Economics (general business administration, business accounting, private law, specialization in economics)
  • IT
  • Interdisciplinary studies
  • Internship (at least 6 weeks)
  • Bachelor thesis

In the mathematical modules, the aim of the first four semesters is to become familiar with the basic mathematical terms, methods and theories and to practice a high degree of abstract-logical thinking. In the economics subjects, the students should get to know basic tasks and procedures in economics as a field of application of mathematics and grasp the language, ways of thinking as well as working and research methods of these subjects. Computer science, in which solid theoretical and practical basic knowledge and skills are strived for, round off the canon of subjects in the basic course. As part of the interdisciplinary course, additional knowledge of the humanities and social sciences is imparted.

    The MINT faculty with the areas of mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics and medical technology is the basic faculty of the BTU. Mathematics and methodology paired with reliable, secure, ubiquitous, distributed data processing and the underlying electronic components form the basis for science, research and teaching at a technical university. The methods and algorithms developed here are used, for example, to prevent disasters, help people in need, guide traffic flows safely or control industrial plants. Wireless communication technologies are essential in this context, as tomorrow's digital world will not do without them. In connection with the strategic reorientation of the university, the faculty sees its potential in terms of participation and design largely in the context of the research fields "Smart regions" and "Cognitive and dependable cyber-physical systems".
