Программа обучения Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

Программа обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" в University of Stuttgart

Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik

Whether smartphones, electric cars, sustainable energy supply systems or innovative medical devices - electrical engineering and information technology engineers are helping to develop the future. Electrical engineering is the backbone of our modern world: a modern society is no longer conceivable without electricity, information technology and sensor technology. A comparison shows the importance of electrical engineering: Electricity is as important as blood or the bloodstream for us humans. Information technology, on the other hand, is as important as the brain and the nervous system. The course is broadly based and provides a foundation of methodological and technical knowledge. In the later semesters, students choose a specialist focus.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

Graduates in electrical engineering and information technology currently have very good job opportunities in many different industries : These include the automotive industry, information technology, the energy industry, medical technology, but also management consultancies, patent attorneys and the public service .

What are my job prospects?

Electrical engineers and information technicians currently have very good employment opportunities: The graduate study on the whereabouts of master's students at the University of Stuttgart shows that most graduates have found a full-time position after two months; after seven months all graduates have found a place.

Very good employment opportunities can also be expected in the future: New job profiles are constantly emerging for engineers in electrical engineering and information technology, for example in energy supply from regenerative energy sources, in medical technology, in vehicle technology through all aspects of electromobility, in the artificial intelligence, but also in the development of energy-saving processes and systems.

In which sectors do electrical and information technicians work?

In principle, a very broad spectrum of industries is open to our graduates. The specialization in the course naturally plays a role. The majority of the graduates work in the classic electronics industry, many also in the automotive industry, research and energy supply. Another field of activity is the public service, where planning and implementation activities are carried out in ministries, municipalities and offices. Consulting firms also employ engineers.

Most graduates work in the field of research and development, which means often in development departments of companies. Electrical engineers are also open to positions in project management, quality assurance or production.

Учебный план программы обучения "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology"

The first four semesters

In the first four semesters, also called basic studies , you have to build a foundation of methodological and technical knowledge . The basic course is therefore largely uniform for all students - it is essentially compulsory modules .

These compulsory modules include three modules on higher mathematics, one module on experimental physics and the basics of programming and software systems. The other compulsory modules cover the spectrum of electrical engineering and information technology taught in Stuttgart. Even in the first semester, practice-oriented components are integrated into the compulsory modules: You take the programming internship , in which you learn to program with C and C ++. Accompanying the lecture “Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering” you will complete the “Basic Practical Course”, a series of experiments in which, for example, you will practice the use of measuring devices, set up and solder a circuit. In the fourth semester you choose your technical focus . You will also complete a first so-called “ specialist internship ”, in which you will independently carry out a small project at the institute of your choice.

The specialist course

Semesters five and six are also referred to as "specialist studies" because students specialize further in these semesters. The focal points from which one must be chosen are:

  • Electrical energy systems
  • Automation and control technology
  • Communication systems and signal processing
  • Technical IT
  • Micro- and optoelectronics
  • Electromobility
  • Sensor systems

These are supplemented with further electives and a specialist internship .

Faculty 5: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
    University of Stuttgart

Our departments of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering cover the entire spectrum of information and communication technologies, with additional emphasis on automation, sustainable energy and electromobility. We are very committed to collaborative research and teaching, and follow a strong interdisciplinary approach.

    Методика оценки заявок

Electrical engineering and information technology B.Sc. is restricted admission (NC). The study places are awarded on the basis of the university selection process according to the following criteria. You must upload the evidence to the campus management portal C @ MPUS during the application process:

    School selection criteria:
The sum of the points achieved in the Abitur certificate is divided: for Abitur certificates with a maximum number of points of 900 points is divided by 30, for Abitur certificates with a maximum number of points of 840 points it is divided by 28 (maximum 30 points).

Other selection criteria (maximum 5 points):

    • Completed professional training in a mathematical, scientific or technical training occupation or previous professional practice relevant to the course (even without completed training)
    • practical activities
    • extracurricular services, e.g. B. Prizes and awards

    Selection:
The scores from the school and other criteria are added together (maximum 35 points). A ranking list is created based on the number of points.

When the remaining study places are allocated, certain applicants will be given preference. The odds for this are:

    • 5% for cases of hardship,
    • 2% for second degree applicants
    • 1% for the selection based on location in the public interest
    • 8-10% for foreign applicants
(Foreign applicants who are not placed on an equal footing with German applicants can only be considered within the scope of the quota for foreign applicants. Places are usually allocated based on the average grade of the university entrance qualification and special educational criteria.)
