Electrical engineering and information technology is an engineering discipline whose processes and products can be found in all areas of everyday life. This degree lays the foundation for a professional activity that can hardly be surpassed in terms of its diversity. Each student decides according to their own interests whether to secure the energy supply of the future, ensure that not only people but also machines can exchange data via the Internet or participate in the development of new medical devices. These tasks require a broad basic education and a corresponding professional deepening. Furthermore, the course offers an introduction to the methods of scientific problem solving, whereby the students acquire the ability to think and act independently in an engineering manner.

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and information technology opens up a very large field of activity, which is why it is difficult to define a uniform job profile. Graduates are employed in areas ranging from development and production to the sale of electrical and automation devices and the associated software. By choosing one of the four study profiles, you can prepare for individual areas of application in a more targeted manner, but this is not fixed. An example of a task is the networking of individual electronic components in vehicles. The Electronic circuit technology and signal processing profile is particularly suitable for this. As an alternative to starting a career, a master’s degree can be added.

In the first three semesters, the required knowledge of mathematics, physics, computer science and the basic technical subjects of electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, measurement technology, electronics, control engineering and control technology is taught. From the 3rd semester, four different study profiles (specializations) are offered. The students choose one of these study profiles: Automation Technology (AT), Electrical Energy Technology (EET), Electronic Circuit Technology and Signal Processing (EES) or Information Technology/Automation Systems (IAS). In addition to the compulsory modules in the respective specializations, students can take additional subjects in the form of compulsory elective modules according to their own personal inclinations. In the 6th semester, the students complete a practical project and write their bachelor thesis.

    Our Faculty Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is an engineering faculty that is active in teaching and research in many areas of electrical engineering and information technology. The thematic bracket of these activities is the "design of systems", from microelectronic circuits to smart grids. In addition to studying electrical engineering and information technology (Bachelor and Master), we also offer a course in industrial engineering with a profile in electrical engineering (Bachelor and Master). Around 600 students are currently enrolled in our courses.

    Applicants are selected, among other things, via an internal university bonus system to improve the university entrance qualification (HZB). The initial value is the relevant average grade of the HZB. If additional subject-specific bonus criteria are met, the average grade can be improved. The improved average grade is called the aptitude grade.

    If certain subject-specific previous knowledge is fulfilled, e.g. B. a completed vocational training or participation in subject-specific advanced courses, an improvement in the average grade of the university entrance qualification (HZB) can be achieved. The improved average grade (aptitude grade) may not be less than 1.0.
