Due to the necessary reduction in greenhouse gases and the finite range of fossil fuels, new paths must be broken. All automotive engineering companies have started extensive activities. You will need a large number of engineers to do this.

In this context, the aim of this bachelor's degree is to offer an attractive offer for a corresponding university degree that keeps pace with the needs of the technical development of this branch.

The job market for graduates of the electromobility bachelor's degree is very large. Graduates from the specializations of this course have a wide range of opportunities to find a job on the German or international job market. On the one hand, large German automobile companies such as Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW have a considerable need for these graduates, because the core competence is shifting from the combustion engine to the electric machine and its control. Some of these companies have established or expanded locations in Saxony. But suppliers such as Bosch, Continental, ZF and others will also have an immense need for engineers in the course of the introduction of electric drives in the future, which this course of study should meet. They urgently need more engineers in order to be able to meet the need for skilled workers in the future.

The electromobility bachelor's degree is divided into three sections:

  • Basics (1st to 4th semester)
  • Specialization (5th and 6th semesters)
  • Bachelor thesis (6th semester)

The separation between basics and specialization is not rigid, the first 4 semesters already contain application-oriented subjects. These sections are complemented by many laboratory internships. The course consists of the following modules, in which a total of 180 credit points are acquired:

  1. Basic modules mathematical-physical basics
  2. Basic modules electrical and information technology basics
  3. Basic modules in materials technology and mechanical fundamentals
  4. Advanced modules
  5. Interdisciplinary non-technical modules
  6. Practical training module
  7. Bachelor thesis module

The first two basic module complexes contain courses in higher mathematics, physics and electrical engineering.

In addition to some subjects from the field of electrical engineering, item 3 includes courses in vehicle energy technology and lightweight construction. Subject-specific modules to be taken by everyone are

  • Electromagnetic energy converters
  • Electric drives
  • Power electronics
  • Control technology
  • Vehicle powertrain

They are supplemented by a large technical and interdisciplinary non-technical range of electives.

The practical training modules (optional eight-week industrial internship) and the final bachelor thesis, which is completed in the 6th semester, are characterized by independent work according to specified objectives.
