Описание программы обучения "General Civil Engineering"

The "General Civil Engineering" course is one of two branches of the civil engineering course. When enrolling, applicants choose a field of study. Until the end of the second semester, they have the opportunity to switch to the other field of study.

Study together - promote individually: The Coburger Weg

The civil engineering course is part of the model project "The Coburger Way". This means that the students start their studies together with fellow students from other courses with the first semester event "anCOmmen". They work across disciplines on projects with students from other fields of study and they can take advantage of special, individual advisory services. There are also study opportunities for them that deal with current social issues.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "General Civil Engineering"

Civil engineers need the country! The chances of an attractive job are better than ever. Measured by the need for future engineers, there are currently far too few graduates. In Germany alone, 150,000 civil engineers will be sought in the coming years.

Civil engineers are mainly active:

  • in the construction and construction industry
  • in engineering offices
  • in the construction departments of companies
  • in public service
  • in research, development and testing facilities as well as
  • in trade associations

Master's program

After successfully completing the bachelor's degree, good graduates have the opportunity to further qualify in the master's program in resource-efficient planning and construction. In cooperation with the University of Bamberg, the Coburg University of Applied Sciences also offers the master's programs in monument conservation and digital monument technologies.

Международный обмен по программе обучения "General Civil Engineering"

Coburg University of Applied Sciences maintains relationships with numerous foreign partner universities in the civil engineering course. Students have the opportunity to spend a semester or internship abroad.

Стажировки и практика в программе обучения "General Civil Engineering"

A 12-week construction site internship is integrated into the course, during which the students work on the construction site and get to know everyday work. It must be completed during the semester break. We recommend completing at least part of the internship before starting your studies. Practical training and evidence of practical activities before the start of the course can be taken into account.

Internship semester

The practical study semester usually takes place in the fifth semester. It covers a continuous period of 20 weeks. Of these, 18 weeks are pure practice in full-time work and two weeks are practical courses. In the practical semester, the students work on constructive, planning, advisory and construction tasks based on specific tasks in construction companies, architecture, engineering and expert offices and / or authorities. You will gain insight into technical and organizational relationships at companies, offices and / or authorities as well as on construction sites. The university has good company contacts and helps in the search for a suitable internship.

Учебный план программы обучения "General Civil Engineering"

In the first stage of the course, the engineering basics are taught in two theoretical semesters . Here, the degree gives first insights into core subjects of civil engineering. Modules in the first stage of study are, for example:

  • Mechanics and statics
  • Infrastructure Planning
  • Construction Survey
  • Basics of sustainable building
  • Technical representation and CAD
  • Building and supporting structure as well as
  • Building Materials

At the end of this section of the course, students can also switch to the course of study "Energy-efficient building design".

The second stage of study comprises five semesters. The third and fourth semester include around:

  • Structural
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Cross-material basics of design
  • Transport and water management
  • Development planning
  • Construction

The practical semester falls on the fifth semester.

The sixth and seventh semesters are designed as in-depth studies with the majors "structural engineering" and "infrastructure planning". In addition, the students visit common subjects such as business administration or building law and carry out interdisciplinary projects.

Structural engineering includes:

  • Concrete
  • Timber and steel construction
  • Constructive geotechnics

Infrastructure planning is about:

  • Road and traffic construction
  • Hydraulic engineering and urban water management
  • Dam and landfill construction

In the seventh semester, students also write their bachelor's thesis.
