Описание программы обучения "Human Medicine"
The basis of the teaching is a systematic lesson in the classic subject areas (e.g. internal medicine, surgery, neurology, pediatrics, etc.) supplemented by:
- Interdisciplinary teaching : Competency fields are interdisciplinary courses in which important clinical pictures and common symptoms are taught in a compact and interdisciplinary manner from the first semester.
- Practice-oriented teaching : Medical skills are trained on models, in realistic simulations and with actor patients in the SkillsLab and practiced in clinical block internships.
- Patient-oriented teaching : In the StudiPat (accompanying patient care) we offer insight into the trusting interaction between family doctor and patient from the first semester.
- Science-oriented teaching : Scientific projects in the pre-clinic and clinic as well as the optional Research Track allow you to participate in the excellent research of the University Hospital Cologne.
- Options : In each semester you set your own priorities with at least one election event. Here you can deepen your individual interests.

Training goals for Cologne graduates in human medicine are
- Acquire the knowledge and skills required to identify important and common illnesses and acute life-threatening situations and to initiate their treatment
- to have behaviors and attitudes that promote acceptance by patients and health professionals and the reputation of the medical profession in society
- to be able to undertake independent and scientifically sound further training in general medicine, in a clinical discipline or in a basic subject of your choice

During your studies, you can complete semesters abroad, internships, internships and parts of the internship at one of our 61 European and 23 non-European partner universities. The EU-funded "ERASMUS program", "PROMOS" and other free sponsors offer financial support for your stay abroad. The course is divided into two sections:
- First stage of study with a duration of two years
- Second stage of study with a duration of four years including the practical year. Each stage of the course is completed with an exam. In accordance with the license to practice medicine for physicians (ÄAppO), evidence of regular and successful participation in the compulsory courses must be provided within the study sections. This evidence constitutes the admission requirement for the respective examination.
The forms of instruction include practical exercises, courses, seminars and (block) internships, others include lectures, tutorials and repetitions. Advanced students take part in the clinical visit. Further explanations can be found in the study regulations.
Note: The curriculum shown below is a further development of the curriculum provided in the study regulations.
First stage of study (1st - 4th semester) During the lecture-free period, the following internships must be completed (or even possible before starting medical studies):
- training in first aid
- the three-month nursing service that can be divided.
Basic medical examination
The pre-clinical phase of study is concluded after the fourth semester by the basic medical examination, which consists of four two-hour exams (in semesters 2 - 4) and a final oral exam.
