Описание программы обучения "Intercultural Studies"

With a model curriculum for intercultural studies, the University of Bayreuth, in coordination with suitable partner universities, has developed the concept of an international double degree. The concept forms the strengths of two partner institutions into a range of courses that cannot be realized by one partner alone, but only through synergy in the international higher education area, i.e. in a contractual alliance. Students at each of the participating universities benefit from complementary profile fields of the partner institution, i.e. from study modules that are not offered at the university where the study started or only with a relatively low thematic development.

Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Intercultural Studies"

The experiences with graduates provide information about the professional fields of activity for outgoing students. Through cooperation with the Association of Bavarian Businesses when the internationalized joint degree program came into being, perspectives for the employment fields have become visible. The acquired skills enable a large part of the graduates to start their careers in the communication areas of companies (e.g. public relations, customer care, marketing), in internationally oriented cultural institutions, in the editorial sectors of conventional, audiovisual and partly. digital media and journalism. Intercultural mediation and advice is equally important, both in the public sector and in the context of cross-cultural workforces of larger companies. Teaching outside the German general education system is a third characteristic area of application. After a phase of initial professional experience, or in some cases immediately, the successful application for an MA course is often followed, provided the quality of the degree is appropriate. The courses mentioned above are in demand, but there are also MA courses elsewhere in Germany or abroad (often European Studies, International Studies). Business administration in Anglophone abroad is added when combined with economics.

When graduating in the country of the partner university, there is a significant increase in the likelihood of working in this cultural area. The mostly relatively dynamic British labor market quickly absorbs English lists in the above areas; the University of Chester in particular has an impressive employment record of English graduates. Experience has shown that the range of activities ranges from business consulting to library services. The program also shows that the culturally flexible graduates with knowledge of a second foreign language - which is not uncommon - are successfully looking for a job or a more in-depth qualification in third countries in order to further expand their intercultural competence. The particularly high performance of the students in this course, together with their intercultural competence and specialist knowledge, enables a high level of employment-promoting dynamism in the areas mentioned.

Учебный план программы обучения "Intercultural Studies"

Overall goal: The intercultural studies / intercultural studies impart skills in dealing with relationships between cultures and their members. Cultural overlapping situations, in which the foreign and the own culture or even several foreign cultures meet, form essential content. The structure includes thematically different subject combinations. It is more complex than a one-subject partnership because it gives students more diverse opportunities.

Time structure:

  • At least the first half of the course is completed at the home university
  • The students then switch to the partner university, where they continue to study their combination of subjects until they graduate.
