With the successful completion of the consecutive Master’s degree in International Relations, the student has in-depth interdisciplinary scientific competencies in two of the three disciplines of the degree, depending on the chosen specialization (Global Political Economy or International Order and Institutions): Political Science (International Politics), economics (international economic and financial relations) and law (international law).

The specialization Global Political Economy (GPOE) with the main access disciplines Political Science (International Politics) and Economics (International Economic and Financial Relations) enables students to understand international structures - in particular global economic relations and their political control and regulation by international organizations - on the basis of in-depth methodological knowledge, theoretical insights and results of basic research in the access disciplines to analyze and independently develop solution strategies for tasks in the field of global political economy.

The specialization in International Order and Institutions (IO) with the main access disciplines political science (international politics) and law (international law) enables students to understand international organizational structures - especially legal and political control in a globalized one To analyze the world as well as the structure and mode of operation of the international order and international institutions - on the basis of in-depth methodological knowledge, theoretical insights and results of basic research in the access disciplines and to independently develop solution strategies for international problems and development processes.

In the profile area during the third subject semester, a semester abroad and / or internships abroad with up to 30 ECTS credit points can be documented. Alternatively, the third semester can also be spent at the TU Dresden, whereby, for example, neighboring disciplines of the two core subjects of the chosen specialization can be chosen as part of a transdisciplinary supplement. With an optional stay abroad you can, in addition to deepening your core subjects, improve your foreign language skills, make new contacts, get to know other cultures and much more. There are currently around 25 partner institutions of the ZIS, the partner universities of the TU Dresden and some faculties at your disposal.
