Interdisciplinarity in all its facets

The curriculum of the bachelor's degree course - Logistics - has an interdisciplinary structure. The learned understanding of logistics is holistic and provides you with approaches for a general logistics perspective.

In addition to the theoretically well-founded transfer of knowledge and consistent practical relevance, the development of key qualifications, such as global or internationally oriented thinking and acting, team, communication and social competence through content and methods, is a central concern of our course. Dealing with diversity aspects as well as unstructured situations and dynamic change requirements are additional skills that are of particular importance in a globalized world and are therefore integrated into the course concept.

Content implementation

As a student in the bachelor's degree - Logistics - you will be introduced to the complex issues of logistics step by step. First, you will be taught the basics of business administration before you specialize in the core subjects in semesters three, four and five. In the fourth semester, you can playfully apply the knowledge you have acquired in a simulation game to manage a complex supply chain. At the same time, the accompanying skills are taught, such as presenting or language skills. In addition, due to the increasing number of seminars over the course of the semester, teaching is shifting from the classic transfer of knowledge in lectures (in the basics) to active learning in small groups. The strong project and application orientation is a specific feature of the course. It can be found primarily in the modules in which logistics skills and methodological knowledge are imparted. The course of study is geared towards the competence of a logistics specialist in a responsible position (specialist or management career) and includes the classic sub-competencies - specialist competence, methodological competence, social competence and personality competence. You will be prepared step by step for complex logistical tasks in a globalized corporate reality.

Globalization and logistics

Due to globalization, foreign language skills play a central role in logistics. You will receive these in the modules BLO240 (Basic Business Skills), BLO330 (Advanced Business Skills) and BLO430 (International Business Skills). By distributing the modules over different semesters, a teaching of foreign language skills that accompanies the course and increases in content and demands is achieved. This includes subject-specific vocabulary and application in intercultural communication situations.

In order to acquire language skills and to prepare for a stay abroad or an internship abroad, which you can complete in the 6th semester, in addition to language events in English at our university, there are also events for learning foreign languages (e.g. French or Spanish ), which you can also prove. In terms of content, the students receive support from employees of the degree program when planning a stay abroad.

Your support offer

The Services & Consulting department also offers numerous voluntary events to improve English communication skills. This is where students from all major fields and exchange students come together. This mix of different language skills paired with the casual use of the language enables language skills to be expanded and has positive effects on social skills as a whole.
