In the bachelor's program in Business Mathematics, you will learn how to find application-oriented mathematical solutions to problems in industry, business and administration. The mathematical part of the degree teaches you skills, theory and methods in the areas of analysis, linear algebra, computer-oriented mathematics, numerical mathematics and probability theory. In the course of your studies, you can then choose a major from various mathematical disciplines in a specialization area and thus specialize. In addition to the mathematical part, you will acquire economic skills. For example, they deal with accounting and cost accounting, marketing and production management, investment and financing, as well as organization and innovation management. The course gives you an interdisciplinary understanding and introduces you to the possibilities of using mathematics in economic application areas.

The bachelor's program in Business Mathematics provides you with knowledge of mathematical methods and skills as well as skills for mathematizing economic problems and for developing and implementing approaches to solutions, especially using computers. As a graduate, you have skills and knowledge of theory and methods in the areas of analysis, linear algebra, computer-oriented mathematics, numerical mathematics and probability theory as well as in your chosen specialization/major. In addition to the specific mathematical knowledge, you have the basics of business administration, including general business administration and organization, external and internal accounting and innovation management.

An internship of at least 140 hours must be completed in a suitable business enterprise. The internship should correspond meaningfully with the individually chosen fields of study. On the basis of a certificate from the internship provider about the course, content and success of the internship, the internship officer decides whether it will be recognized and evaluated as an examination, which will then be credited with 6 credit points in area 7. It is recommended that you contact the internship coordinator to find out about the possibility of crediting before starting an internship.

The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge of scientific facts as well as mathematical methods and skills. In addition to knowledge of mathematical methods, the course should acquire and develop skills for mathematizing concrete problems, analyzing the structures on which they are based, finding approaches to solutions based on existing methods or methods that need to be expanded, and realizing solutions, especially using computers. By studying the business administration area, in addition to specific specialist knowledge, an interdisciplinary understanding is imparted and the possibilities of using mathematics in a specific area of application are introduced. An obligatory internship in a suitable commercial enterprise or data processing company serves to create a stronger connection to the work and tasks of a mathematician in practice.
The bachelor's degree consists of studying modules totaling 168 credit points in the areas
- Area 1: Basic mathematics (72 CP),
- Area 2: Basic extension of mathematics (20 points),
- Area 3: Advanced mathematics (20 CP),
- Area 4: Mathematical seminar (6 CP),
- Area 5: Elective (14 CP),
- Area 6: Economics (30 CP),
- Area 7: Internship (6 CP)
as well as the preparation of a bachelor thesis (12 CP).
