Mathematics has been a driving force behind many modern technologies and has become one of the key technologies of the information age. Behind areas like data compression and data security, traffic control, optimal investment strategies are always mathematical processes that testify to a living science with many open research questions and big implications for applications.

In mathematics studies one learns to deduce logical connections and practices in argument and proof. Less is expected than many expect. Almost all known rules are questioned and new structures, e.g. discovered new types of numbers or high-dimensional spaces.

One learns, among other things, the mathematical laws of chance and learns how fair prices on the financial markets come about. The keyword optimization, for example, covers how a Navi calculates the shortest paths or how to strategically behave best when contending with others for a limited resource.

The career prospects for math graduates are very good. Typical fields of activity can be found in banks, insurance companies, in the software and IT industry, in management consultancies, in data processing or in research and development. With a master’s degree, you have the opportunity to work as a doctoral student and/or research assistant at a university.

Within Germany, there are particularly many offers for mathematicians in Frankfurt and the entire Rhine-Main region.

Mathematicians become decision-makers: During their studies, they learned how to analyze structures, draw detective conclusions and develop strategies from them. In fact, mathematicians are employed in senior positions in decision-making - in the most diverse areas of the economy.

Mathematicians* develop software: They design and program  software - such as that found in every navigation device. They are used both in the management of software projects and in inventing the necessary processes.

Mathematicians look into the future: They deal with data and random processes and work in medical research institutions, in banks and insurance companies or in a statistical office. Here they discover trends, assess risks and make forecasts of how the future will develop.

After completing their bachelor’s degree in mathematics, many graduates opt for a four-semester master’s degree that offers numerous options and specializations. The master's degree in mathematics in Frankfurt is research-oriented, so that graduates have good opportunities for a doctorate.

In the compulsory area, you acquire the necessary knowledge for studying mathematics as a science and its application in practice, especially including computers. Courses in analysis, linear algebra, computer-oriented mathematics, algebra, geometry, stochastics, numerical mathematics and discrete mathematics are taught.

In the advanced phase of the study, which begins in the fourth semester, in-depth knowledge is acquired in self-selected sub-areas. It will learn the ability to independently gain further knowledge and skills in professional life or subsequent higher qualifications. In the specialization phase, you can focus on a combination of modules that complement each other in terms of content. The study is completed with the Bachelor's thesis, in which a topic of the specialization area within a given period (9 weeks) under guidance independently according to scientific methods to develop.

In general pre-employment events, you will acquire skills and knowledge that are useful for the academic qualification beyond the specialist studies. These include events for communication and optionally the assumption of a tutorial management or the completion of a professional internship.

The Bachelor program includes the study of an application subject. The following application compartments are possible:
