Карьерные перспективы по завершению программы обучения "Mechanical Engineering"

The Mechanical Engineering Master's degree program leads to a second professional qualification that significantly enhances the career prospects compared to the Bachelor's degree. Mechanical engineering engineers have a wide range of job opportunities.

Possible occupational fields are:

  • Research and Development (Planning, Calculation, Design and Testing of Technical Equipment and Systems),
  • Production (planning, production, testing of products and processes, quality management),
  • Marketing and Sales of Technical Equipment and Products,
  • Leadership in industry, private companies and government agencies.

Due to the methodical training, the possible industries are versatile. These include, in particular, energy and environmental technology, process engineering, general mechanical and plant engineering, the entire electrical industry, the automotive and supplier industry, automation technology, medical technology and the service industry.

Ожидаемые результаты программы обучения "Mechanical Engineering"

Under consideration of the general study objectives (§ 58 HG NRW), the course aims to impart application-specific contents on the basis of scientific findings and to enable them to apply scientific and engineering methods, to develop practical solutions to problems, to consider non-professional references and to carry out scientific research , The profound command of the English language is the basis for the continuous improvement and expansion of the technical language knowledge during the course of the study and therefore a prerequisite for mastering the degree program.

In addition, the degree program aims to ensure that its graduates quickly and productively get involved in international industrial companies through their technical skills, to familiarize themselves with the acquired methodological knowledge in previously unknown tasks, the required know-how, research, analysis and updating Recognize boundaries and search for and develop cooperation with interdisciplinary teams, help shape products, processes and processes in terms of increasing efficiency and careful use of finite resources, evaluate economic factors and include in the solution of tasks, new methods on high To develop a scientific level, to scientifically analyze new tasks based on their broad knowledge and to solve them goal-oriented.

The master's program deliberately does not offer graduates specialization in narrowly defined subject areas. Instead, the approach is pursued to impart flexibly applicable specialist and methodical knowledge, so that on the basis of this scientific training, transfers to future questions are made possible.

Another goal of the master's program Mechanical Engineering is the possibility of targeted specialization. For this purpose, six optional subject packages are offered, from which two packages are to be selected. Each elective course consists of several modules.

The learning content of Mechanical Engineering is derived from the requirements that industrial companies place on young engineers today. The focus is on a sound technical basis and the ability to scientifically sound, practical problem-solving. The following training phases must be distinguished:

  • Extended technical fundamentals (eg higher engineering mathematics, fluid mechanics, software development, structural analysis)
  • In-depth technical application subjects in the elective subject packages, which take up the advanced technical basic knowledge imparted and related to applications in various technical fields (eg mechatronics, drive systems)
  • deepening the students' organizational and social skills (eg quality management and intellectual property, corporate governance)
  • Continuous application of the acquired knowledge and skills in internships and projects (eg internship machine tools, applied research project, master thesis).

With the completion of the master's program, the graduates have a wide range of engineering knowledge oriented towards current development trends, which enables them to operate successfully in mechanical and plant engineering companies, to work creatively and to act entrepreneurially. This also includes the interdisciplinary skills (such as intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration, project management) that are lived through various events. Furthermore, the graduates have the competences to do scientific work, which allows a continuation and extension of the scientific career (eg doctorate).
