Mechanical Engineering

The programme is designed in such a way that it builds on a solid foundation in mechanics, which is the fundamental discipline of mechanical engineering, and allows both deeper examination and broader study in the various areas of mechanical engineering. Through the electives in a variety of thematic fields, students are given the opportunity to grow and develop according to their own specific interests and shape their own individual profile. A solid foundation in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering combined with the wide choice of electives allows the development of an individual and interdisciplinary profile. Together with a strong research focus, this is what forms this programme’s innovative nucleus.

The programme is taught entirely in English. The English-language programme empowers students to work in their later professional careers at international and global level without any language barriers. It is also an important component in the setting up of international double degree programmes which are planned for the future in the framework of this programme.

Students acquire fundamental and methodical skills in a broad range of mechanics topics. They master modern simulation tools in these fields and have a solid grounding in measurement technology which allows them to specialize in this field in the course of their later careers. Depending on their individual interests, this can mean both deeper study of mechanics as well as a broadening of the subject spectrum through topics in other areas, such as energy engineering or industrial engineering.

Through their involvement in ongoing research and industrial projects, students are capable of independent scientific work.

Another possibility is to be employed at a university or research institution. The master's degree in principle to a doctorate. It is possible to obtain a doctorate while working at a university research institute, or company. Since the Master's degree programme is exclusively taught in English, the graduates are entitled to work in all the sectors mentioned above internationally and globally. ​

    Bachelor degree or diploma in the area of product development and production, process, energy and environmental engineering or mechanical and/or process engineering with an overall grade of 2.5 (according to German grading system) or higher. English language proficiency of at least Level B2.
