The research-oriented and practice-oriented orientation of the six-semester training prepares the Bachelor graduates of the mechanical engineering course of the KIT for lifelong learning and employment in typical occupational fields of mechanical engineering in industry, services and public administration. You acquire the scientific qualification for a master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields of study.

In the basic-oriented area of ​​the course, graduates acquire basic engineering knowledge. With this in-depth knowledge of scientific theories, principles and methods, graduates can successfully work on precisely specified mechanical engineering problems with a clear solution.

In the specialization area and in the bachelor thesis, interdisciplinary problem-solving and synthesis skills of technical systems are developed. The graduates can generate new solutions in their chosen areas of mechanical engineering.

Graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at KIT can choose basic methods in familiar situations to create and compare models. They are able to take on given problems and the resulting tasks in teams that are organized based on division of labor, to work on them independently, to integrate the results of others and to present and interpret their own results in writing. You will be able to identify, break down and develop systems and processes, and apply given evaluation criteria taking into account technical, economic and social boundary conditions.
